Men Finish Fourth At New Englands
On a hot-for-October day, the men's cross country team battled for a commendable fourth place finish. For the third time this season, Jochen Dieckfoss led the Terriers home, placing 14th. in 25:06. This was down from last year's seventh place finish in 24:40. The best news of the day, however, soon followed as senior Jason Borbet, who has been laboring with an injury since July, returned to competition with a solid 25:09 to finish just behind Jochen. Having Jay back in the line up is a big boost to the teams prospects. Paul Ryan withstood the debilitating effects of heat exhaustion over the closing stages of the race, as he finished 35th. in 25:35. His determination and resolve carried his failing body onto the finish in a stunning display of mind over matter. Rob Wong finished in 25:56, good for 49th. and Jordan Jones clipped in at 26:09 in 61st. Rob and Jordan have done a great job in keeping the team competitive while some of our other performers are trying to get back to good form.
The America East Champioship is next up on the docket, slated for October 27 in Orono, Maine.
